CVL10-Mexico

CVL10-Mexico, proposed by CVL Leader Dmitri Rouwet and Katrin Sieron (Universidad de Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico).

Mexico’s most famous crater lake was formed after the March-April 1982 Plinian eruptions of El Chichón (Chiapas). Nevertheless, Mexico houses many other poorly studied, often maar lakes, mainly unknown to the CVL Community.

With 37 years having passed in 2019, BUT 40 (!!) years having passed in 2022, this CVL10 proposal aims to be mainly a “teaser” for a “commemorative” workshop in the spring of 2022 (CVL11), in the style of the recent CVL9-Lake Nyos workshop, 30-years-after.
